Enzo Porrello

Dr. Porrello received his Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) and PhD in Physiology from The University of Melbourne. He was subsequently awarded a C.J Martin postdoctoral fellowship from the National Health and Medical Research Council and National Heart Foundation of Australia to undertake postdoctoral training at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, USA, under the guidance of Prof. Eric Olson. Dr. Porrello relocated to the School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Queensland in 2012 to establish the Cardiac Regeneration Lab, which he currently co-heads together with Dr. James Hudson. Dr Porrello is an NHMRC R.D. Wright Biomedical Fellow and his research has been recognized by a number of prestigious awards including the UQ Foundation for Research Excellence Award, A.K. McIntyre Prize (Australian Physiological Society) and the UT Southwestern Postdoctoral Achievement award. His research group focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that guide post-natal heart development and regeneration.
