Dr Ong obtained his PhD degree in the University of Hong Kong in 2010. He then moved to Sydney and joined the Lipid Research Group at the Heart Research Institute, Sydney, Australia as a post-doctoral fellow in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Kerry-Anne Rye. In January 2013, he moved with Prof. Rye and the rest of her research team to the Centre for Vascular Research, University of New South Wales (UNSW). In 2013, he was awarded the UNSW Vice Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Dr Ong’s research interests include, (i) association of plasma biomarkers with cardiovascular risk factors; (ii) epidemiology of different cardiovascular risk factors; (iii) the biology of the anti-inflammatory properties of high-density lipoproteins (HDL) and associated apolipoproteins.
