Peter Molenaar is Associate Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences QUT and Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Medicine University of Queensland. He is a former NHMRC RD Wright, Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow. He is the theme leader for in vitro human heart and molecular human heart pharmacology research. Research focuses on medicines and their mechanisms in the human heart including effects of chronic administration. Current research explores relationships between chronic administration of different beta-blockers in patients with heart failure, phosphodiesterases, inotropic and spontaneous contractions towards optimizing treatment and identifying new targets for medicines. He has published over 100 papers in the field of beta-adrenoceptor and other G-protein coupled receptor mechanisms in human heart.
