Roland Stocker is a trained biochemist, head of the Vascular Biology Division at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, and an NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow. Roland has a longstanding interest in redox processes in health and disease. He has published over 250 articles and his H-index is 71. Major current research interests include the biological functions of myeloperoxidase, heme oxygenase-1, indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase, and the development of novel methods to quantify reactive oxygen species in vivo in the context of vascular function in health and disease. Roland has served or currently serves as a member of the Editorial Board of all journals dedicated to free radical research. He has also served as President of the Society for Free Radical Research Australasia, and has contributed to the societies and related research in the areas of bilirubin, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E, tryptophan metabolism, lipoproteins, atherosclerosis and vascular biology.
